01

when a crown makes sense

a crown isn’t the first answer. if a filling will do the job, we’ll tell you — and show you why on your x-rays.

  • a cracked or broken tooth
  • a tooth with a large, failing filling
  • a tooth after a root canal
  • a worn or discolored tooth
  • the top of a dental implant

02

a crown, a bridge or an implant

when a tooth is missing, a bridge uses the teeth on either side as anchors for a new tooth in the middle. an implant replaces the tooth on its own post and leaves the neighbors alone.

each has its place. we’ll walk you through both, including the cost, before you choose. more about dental implants in snohomish.

crown questions

how long does a crown last?+

with good care, many years — often ten or more. grinding, chewing ice and skipped checkups shorten that.

does getting a crown hurt?+

the tooth is numbed for the prep. it can feel sensitive for a few days afterward, which usually settles on its own.

crown or filling?+

a filling repairs a small area. a crown is for a tooth that has lost too much of itself to hold a filling safely. we’ll show you which you need, and why.

will insurance cover it?+

many plans cover part of a crown when it’s needed to protect a tooth. we accept most private insurance plans, check your coverage, and submit the claim for you.

i broke a tooth. can you see me soon?+

call as early as you can. a broken tooth is an emergency to us, and new patients are welcome.
